PAPER III CHEMISTRY
Fructose and glucose when covalently linked form
In sucrose, glucose and fructose are linked to each
other by covalent linkage.
Cellobiose is a disaccharide, it consists of two
glucose molecules linked by a β(1→4)
bond. Maltose also known as maltobiose or malt
sugar, is a disaccharide formed from two units
of glucose joined with an α(1→4) bond. Lactose is
a disaccharide sugar that is found most notably in
cow milk and is formed from linkage of galactose
and glucose.
