Broad spectrum antibiotics are the antibiotic which are
effective against several type of harmful micro-organisms.
Tetracycline, chloromycetin and chloramphenicol are the
common examples of broad spectrum antibiotics.
Chloramphenicol is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal
tract and hence can be given orally. These can be
used for curing typhoid, acute fever, dysentery, whooping
cough, etc
