CAT : CAT is a widely accepted entrance exam for admission to postgraduate management programs, including MBA, offered by various business schools and management institutes across India. 

IPMAT:  IPMAT is specifically designed for admission to the Integrated Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). 

Target Programs: 

CAT : CAT requires candidates to have completed a bachelor's degree with a specified minimum percentage. There is no age limit for CAT. 

IPMAT:  Typically, IPMAT has an eligibility criterion for candidates who have completed their 10+2 education with a certain percentage of marks. 

Eligibility Criteria: 

CAT : CAT has three sections - Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DI & LR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). 

IPMAT:  IPMAT typically consists of two sections - Quantitative Ability (QA) and Verbal Ability (VA). It is designed to assess the analytical and communication skills of candidates.

CAT : CAT is known for its challenging nature and is considered one of the toughest management entrance exams in India. 

IPMAT:  IPMAT is generally considered to be of moderate difficulty. The exam duration is around two hours.

CAT : CAT is known for its focus on testing candidates' analytical and problem-solving abilities across all three sections. 

IPMAT:  IPMAT emphasizes assessing candidates' analytical and quantitative skills along with verbal abilities. 

Focus on Analytical Skills: 

CAT : The CAT scores are used by various management institutes for shortlisting candidates, and the final selection involves GD (Group Discussion), WAT, and PI rounds. 

IPMAT:  Admission to the IIMs through IPMAT typically involves a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds in addition to the entrance exam score.
