How To Study For IIT JEE Class 11

Make a Study Plan  ily timetable  Make a strategic study plan for covering the entire syllabus. Set small targets to achieve on how many topics to complete in say one week, one month, three months, etc. Also, keep time for revision and mock tests in your study plan.

Clear the Basic Concepts    Now that you have a clear understanding of the pattern and syllabus, understand the basic concepts in depth. Take the help of your subject teachers if you have any doubts. While studying the topics as part of your school curriculum, it will be easier to understand. NCERT books are considered to be the best for clearing the basic concepts.

Get Reference Books    Apart from your curriculum books, there are various preparation books that are strictly based on the IIT-JEE syllabus and pattern. You can get these books (start with one book for each subject) for your preparation. You will easily find these books in your school library or the online/ offline market. Some of the good books are by Arihant Publications, H.C. Verma, O.P. Tondon, and R.D. Sharma.

Make a study schedule   JEE preparation is a test of your dedication and consistency. It is imperative to say that candidates aspiring to get into IITs must have a well-planned study schedule. A study schedule or timetable helps in figuring out the course of action for the day. The study schedule need not be rigid, if you feel like doing something other than your assigned work then go ahead with it.

Do a SWOT analysis to understand yourself   JEE syllabus is quite vast and it is absolutely okay if you are not good at all the subjects or topics. You should always adopt a smart approach toward your goals. SWOT analysis helps you to understand your strength, weakness, threat, and opportunity. Once you have a clear idea about your weaknesses, you will know where you need to work more.

Gather study material for IIT JEE   Getting your concept ready from NCERT books is the best way to build your foundation for JEE preparation. But, if you're competing against a million students then NCERT alone is not enough. You need to take help from study material that covers your syllabus extensively.

Take the help of expert teachers from coaching institutes   Coaching institutes help students with study material, planning, and regular revision. Class XI is the right time to start your coaching for JEE preparation. You are introduced to new and intriguing concepts in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. A good coaching institute will help you understand difficult concepts in a simple way.

Be consistent with your approach   During JEE preparation, the most challenging part is to stay motivated and consistent. For a school-going student, it is difficult to maintain a scheduled day in and day out. Whenever you feel like giving up, remember that if you give up, your goals will never be fulfilled.

The practice has no substitute     There is no escaping the route to ‘practice’. All three subjects need practice for formulae, theorems, chemical equations, and more. Therefore, students must make it their agenda to solve at least 5 questions every day from sample papers/ past papers.
