How To Become An IPS Officer 

Eligibility Criteria -  The candidate must be an Indian citizen and must have attained the age of 21 years. The upper age limit is 32 years for general category candidates. 

Educational Qualification -  The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. 

Prepare for the Civil Services Examination -  The Civil Services Examination comprises three stages- Preliminary examination, Main examination, and Personal Interview. 

Preliminary Examination -  This is the first stage of the Civil Services Examination. It consists of two objective type papers- General Studies Paper-I and CSAT. 

Main Examination -  The main examination consists of nine papers- in essay paper, four General Studies papers, and two optional papers. 

Personal Interview -  The final stage is the personal interview, where candidates are evaluated on their personality, communication skills, leadership abilities, and general awareness. 

The training program -  The training program is rigorous and aims to prepare you for your duties as an IPS officer. 

Joining -  After completing your training, you will be posted as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in your cadre state.
