Prioritize: A lot of the overwhelm at times for students emanates from an inability to focus on what’s most critical. Without a sense of what needs to be accomplished, everything can feel urgent and important.
Understand the stress triggers: For each individual, the origination of stress and overwhelm is different. As pillars of support, it is important to understand what the cause of stress is for the student.
Changing perspective: Studies have shown that students with a growth mindset manage stress better than others. Building resilience is important to inculcate a long-term stress management base for students.
Encouraging balance, not perfection: Extracurricular activities are great to provide a well-rounded perspective and encourage the holistic development of students. However, there is a strong tendency to get caught up in it and get obsessed with perfection. Managing and balancing this in students is equally important to manage stress.
Providing support: As parents or academics, it is natural to want to see your child or student excel at everything that they are working towards.
