10 Tips for Note Making to Boost Your Brain Power

Be prepared before attending the class, dating your notes and naming them in the index helps in keeping them organized. Having the required stationery in place is a very good way to prepare yourself for the lecture, else you may miss noting some important points while searching for your pen or pencil.

#1 Preparation

Primarily, notes have to be in your own words, reflecting your own understanding of the topic. They are not to be directly copied from reference books. Making notes in your own words gives your brain a clear understanding of the topic.

#2 Listening

The best way to make your notes concise is to write them in points, using easy words and short sentences, which can give you a quick connection to the subject. The key is that when you refer to them later on, you should be able to easily remember what had been taught.

Flowcharts, tables, drawings, diagrams, figures, or sketches are also a quicker way to take down what is being said. By noting things in this way, you will not only enjoy the process of learning, but it will also give you a good understanding of the subject.
