In the second exercise of RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 2, you will solve questions on the topic, “Multiplication Of Fractions”. 

• Multiplication of the fractions is the repeated addition of the fraction numbers. It is the addition of the number of times the digit (fraction) such that it results in the product having the output same as the multiplication of two or more fractions. 
• You have to multiply numerators, then denominators, and then simplify them into simpler fractions. You can also simplify each fraction at the initial stage and then proceed with the multiplication of the numerator and the denominator. It will help you to avoid facing the complex problem in the end. 

Steps To Multiply Fractions:

1. Multiply all the numerator together.

2. Multiply all the denominator terms together which would result in the specific numerator and the specific denominator as the resultant fraction.

3. Product of Fraction = Product of Numerator × Product of Denominator.
4. In case of a mixed fraction, you must convert that mixed fraction into the form of an improper fraction and then proceed with the multiplication process discussed in the above steps.

• Multiplication of Fractions using the Cancellation Method

The cancellation method of multiplying two or more fractions is one of the best shortcuts to yield faster results.

Let’s take another Example 2:

Multiply the problem (1/3) × (3/4) × (5/2) × (1/5).

You can initiate by canceling out the common factors from the above problem.

(1/3) × (3/4) × (5/2) × (1/5).

= 1/8

• Multiplications of Fractions with Whole Numbers

1. Multiplying the fractions with whole numbers is similar to multiplication among two or more factions.
2. Rewrite the whole numbers as the fraction by bringing the denominator of 1.
3. Then apply the method of multiplying fractions.

4. We can convert, the whole number N  into a fraction having the denominator as 1:

   Here, N = N/1

• Multiplication Of Negative Fractions

There are certain rules to multiply the negative numbers while multiplying the fractions:

1. RULE 1: + x + = +
2. RULE 2: + x – = –
3. RULE 3: – x – = +
