NEET Eligibility Criteria for UG 2024

The NEET Eligibility Criteria include age eligibility, education eligibility, nationality, marks scored by the candidates, and categories. However, the basic Eligibility Criteria say the candidate must qualify for the 12th class examination with Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and English subjects. However, you must pass with 50% marks in these exams which vary for the reservation category.

1) NEET Eligibility Criteria for UG 2024- Age Limit  

The candidate must look over the minimum and maximum age limit before applying for the NEET Exam.  

  1. The lower age limit for candidates aspiring for NEET 2024 should be 17 years as of December 31.  
  2. The upper age limit for the general category is 25 years.  
  3. For the reservation category, there is an age relaxation of 5 years

2) NEET Eligibility Criteria for UG 2024- Qualifying Marks  

Here are the qualifying marks for the different categories:-  

  1. Aspirants must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology, and English individually  
  2. Those who belong to the General category must score a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.  
  3. The candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/must score 40% marks in the qualifying examination  
  4. Those who belong to the general category and are under PWD must score 45% marks in the Qualifying Examination.

NEET Eligibility Criteria for UG 2024- Number of Attempts  

There is no such specified number of attempts informed by the NTA for the NEET Exam. The candidates can appear in this exam as long as they qualify for the eligibility criteria.  

3) NEET Eligibility Criteria for UG 2024- Nationality  

The candidate could be:-  

  1. Indian National, 
  2. Non-Resident of India  
  3. Overseas Citizens of India  
  4. A person of Indian Origin  
  5. Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/ Dental Colleges subject to the rules and regulations framed by the respective state government, Institution, and the Government of India as the case may be.  
  6. Foreign nationals may confirm their eligibility from the concerned Medical/ Dental College/ State.  

4) NEET Eligibility Criteria for UG 2024- Qualification Codes  

There are 7 codes, the candidates are required to choose any 1 of them. The codes are as follows.  

CODE 1  

A candidate who is appearing in the examination, and whose result of class 12 is awaited may apply and take up the test but they are not eligible for admission to the MBBS and BDS if they do not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of the marks at the time of first round of counseling

CODE 2  

The Higher/ Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to a 10+2 exam after 12 years of study, the last two years of study compromising Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology

CODE 3  

The Intermediate/ Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/ Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology, and also English as a compulsory subject

CODE 4  

The Intermediate/ Pre-degree Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology, and also English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/ Pre-medical Examination shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject

CODE 5  

The first year of a year degree course at a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Bio-technology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and the candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology with English at a level not less than a core course.

CODE 6  

B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that the candidate has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology, and further that they had passed the earlier Qualifying Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

CODE 7  

Any other Examination which in score and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science, Examining of an Indian University including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.
