GDS Selection Process (India Post) 2021

The selection process for Gramin Dak Sevak does not include any written or online examination. The selection will be entirely based on the candidate’s class 10 grade. Review the points given below to know about the GDS selection process.

  1. The selection process for Gramin Dak Sevak is based on the candidate’s marks in the class 10 (enrollment) examination.
  2. The grade obtained by the candidate will be rounded to the nearest 4 decimal places to prepare the list of merit of Gramin Dak Sevak.
  3. Candidates with superior qualifications, prior experience, and service knowledge will not be given importance. Selection will be based on merit only (grade in class 10).
  4. If two candidates have attained the same grade, the officials will follow the criteria given below:
  • The oldest candidate will be given priority.
  • After that, preference will be given to the order of ST Female, SC Female, OBC Female, EWS Female, UR Female, ST Male, SC Male, OBC male, EWS Male, UR Male.

As per GDS official notification, successful candidates for the post of Branch Postmaster, Branch Postmaster Assistant, and Postal Servant will be required to deposit the prescribed security amount established by India Post. The current security amounted to Rs. 1,00,000 / – (Rupees 1 lakh).

Some important points to keep in mind about the GDS selection process are:

  1. Candidates should have passed class 10 from a government recognized school. Likewise, they must have passed the respective standards approved by the board.
  2. Students who have a grade/marks system will have to change their score to a grading system and will be completed on the application form itself.
  3. A candidate can apply for a maximum of 20 posts by mentioning the order of preference on an application form.
  4. As long as they meet the eligibility criteria, candidates can apply for more than one circle (even outside the home). However, the candidate will be assigned only one place in each circle, if they have applied for one or more posts in each circle.

India Post Office Recruitment 2021: GDS Eligibility Details

Educational qualification: the candidate must have passed the SSC or the 10th class with Mathematics and English as compulsory or optional subjects. The candidate must study from the School Education Board recognized by the Government of India / State Governments / Union Territories.

Knowledge of the local language: Candidates are required to study the local language up to at least the tenth grade as a compulsory or elective subject.

Computer literacy: candidate must have at least 60 days basic computer training course certificate from any computer training institute run by central government/state government/universities/boards / private institutions/organizations.

Cycling knowledge: Candidates must know how to ride a bicycle and if they know how to ride a scooter or motorcycle, it will be considered cycling knowledge.

Age limit: 18 to 40 years as of November 12, 2020. However, there is a relaxation in the upper age limit. The relaxation of age is given below:
