CSIR NET Educational Qualifications 2023

• The candidates must hold a degree of M.Sc. or equivalent degree / BS-4 years / BE/ Integrated BS-MS / B. Pharma / MBBS / B. Tech with at least 55% marks.

• The SC/ST and persons with disability candidates must have at least 50% marks in M.Sc. or equivalent degree / B. Pharma / BS-4 years / BE / Integrated BS-MS / MBBS / B. Tech.

• The candidates that are enrolled for M.Sc or have completed their graduation can also apply for CSIR UGC NET 2023 under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they will complete the qualifying degree with a needed percentage of marks within two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of the award.

• The candidates that hold B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree or are enrolled in Integrated MS-Ph.D program with at least 55% marks for General candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/PWD as per the CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria.

• The candidates that hold a bachelor’s degree will be eligible for the fellowship only after getting registered /enrolled for Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. program within the validity period of 2 years.

CSIR NET Age Limit & Nationality Criteria

• Nationality: The candidates that apply for CSIR NET needs to be a citizen of India.

• Age Limit: The maximum age limit for Joint Research Fellowship is 28 years as on July 1, 2023. The upper age limit is relaxed to the reserved categories such as 5 years for SC/ST, PWD, Female, and 3 years for OBC.

CSIR NET 2023 Eligibility for LS/JRF Exam

• CSIR NET Eligibility for Life Science: As per CSIR NET Eligibility for Life Science, aspirants are required to have academic qualifications in Life Science only.
• CSIR UGC NET Chemical Science Eligibility: Aspirants must have valid M.Sc./BS/B-Tech or equivalent qualifications in Chemistry with the required percentage criteria as per CSIR eligibility.
• CSIR NET Earth Science Eligibility: The CSIR UGC NET eligibility criteria for Earth Science states that the candidates must have completed M.Sc./BS-MS/BS-4 Years/B-Pharma or any equivalent degree in the field of Earth Science within the required qualifying criteria.
• CSIR NET Mathematics Eligibility Criteria: The CSIR NET aspirants are required to have a valid degree in M.Sc./BS-MS/BS/B-Tech or any equivalent study for Mathematics to fulfill the CSIR UGC eligibility conditions for Maths.
• CSIR NET Eligibility for Physical Science: According to CSIR UGC NET eligibility criteria set for Physical Science, an aspirant is required to have a valid degree of M.Sc. in Physics or BS-MS in Physics or any related degree passed within the required percentage.

Selection for Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship

Candidates need to mention the positions while filling out the CSIR UGC NET application form. Based on the eligibility, aspirants are required to give their preference in JRF and/ or LS.

• A candidate applying for JRF but fulfilling the laid down eligibility criteria for Lectureship will be considered for both JRF & LS.
• If a candidate is found to be over-aged for JRF (NET), he/she will only be considered for Lectureship (NET).
• Option/preference given by the candidate in his/her application form is final and request for change will not be entertained at any later stage.
• The number of candidates qualifying for the exam depends on the number of fellowships available and performance in the test, subject to the condition that they fulfill the laid down eligibility criteria.
• Candidates with M.Sc qualification or under M.Sc Result Awaited (RA) category shall be eligible for Lectureship (LS) subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as laid down by the UGC.
