Costa Rica Costa Rica abolished its military in 1949 and has since maintained a commitment to peace and disarmament. It is known for its dedication to demilitarization and diplomacy. 

Iceland Iceland does not have a standing military but is a member of NATO. It relies on the defense capabilities of its NATO allies, primarily the United States.
