NMAT:  NMAT is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and is primarily used for admission to NMIMS. 

CAT:  CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), which are among the most prestigious management institutions in India.  

Exam Conducting Body: 

NMAT:  NMAT scores are primarily accepted by NMIMS Mumbai and its associated campuses, along with a few other universities and colleges. 

CAT:  CAT scores are accepted by numerous top-tier B-schools in India, including all the IIMs and other renowned institutions. 

Acceptance by B-Schools: 

NMAT:  NMAT has a testing window of around 75 days, during which candidates can choose their preferred date and time for the exam. 

CAT:  CAT is a single-day test typically lasting about 2 hours. 

Test Duration: 

NMAT:  NMAT is often seen as a more accessible exam, with a broader range of B-schools accepting its scores. 

CAT:  CAT is generally considered more challenging and competitive due to its limited number of seats in top B-schools and the high level of difficulty. 

Exam Difficulty: 

NMAT:  NMAT allows multiple attempts within the testing window, with the best score considered for admissions. 

CAT:  CAT allows only one attempt per year. 

Number of Attempts: 

NMAT:  NMAT offers a wider range of test centers, making it more convenient for candidates. 

CAT:  CAT centers are limited, and candidates may have to travel to a different city for the exam
