CTET vs REET -  Which one is better?

Geographical Scope

CTET: Conducted at the national level for all states and union territories in India.

REET: Conducted at the state level specifically for Rajasthan.

States Covered

CTET: Applicable for all states in India. 

REET: Specifically for the state of Rajasthan.  

Exam Levels

CTET: CTET Paper I (Primary Stage) for teaching classes I to V. CTET Paper II (Elementary Stage) for teaching classes VI to VIII. 

REET: REET Level 1 (Primary) for teaching classes I to V. REET Level 2 (Upper Primary) for teaching classes VI to VIII.

Exam Frequency

CTET: Conducted twice a year (usually in July and December).

REET: Conducted as per the requirements of the state government.  

Exam Pattern

CTET: Paper I: 150 MCQs , Paper II: 150 MCQs 

REET: Level 1: 150 MCQs, Level 2: 150 MCQs

CTET: Available in English and Hindi.

Validity Period

CTET: Valid for 7 years from the date of declaration of results.  

REET: Valid as per the regulations of the Rajasthan government.    

Eligibility Criteria

CTET: Varies slightly based on Paper I or II. Generally, a minimum of 50% in 10+2 with relevant teacher education course.    

REET: Varies based on Level 1 or 2. Generally, a minimum of 50% in 10+2 with relevant teacher education course.    

Job Opportunities

CTET: Eligible for teaching positions in various Central Government schools (Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UTs.      

REET: Eligible for teaching positions in schools within the state of Rajasthan.
