India Celebrates National Science Day on 28 February & Here's Why

The celebration of National Science Day on 28th February is a tribute to the scientific legacy of Sir C.V. Raman and a reminder of the importance of science and technology.

India celebrates National Science Day on 28th February every year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect by the Indian physicist, Sir C.V. Raman in 1928.

The Raman effect is one of the most significant contributions to the field of physics and was discovered by Sir C.V. Raman on 28th February 1928.

The Raman effect refers to the inelastic scattering of light by molecules which causes a change in the wavelength of the scattered light.

Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his discovery of the Raman effect, making him the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize in science.

The celebration of National Science Day is a way to acknowledge the contribution of Indian scientists to the field of science and to inspire future generations of scientists.

The NCSTC encourages various institutions, schools, and colleges to organize science exhibitions, science fairs, science quiz competitions, and other science-related activities on National Science Day.
