10 Tips to get college-ready

Start early -  It's never too early to start preparing for college. You can begin by taking challenging courses in high school that will prepare you for college-level work. 

Research colleges -  Do some research on different colleges and universities to find out what they offer and what their admission requirements are. 

Develop good study habits -  College coursework will require more self-discipline and self-motivation than high school.  

Build your extracurricular profile -  Colleges look for well-rounded students who are involved in extracurricular activities. 

Take standardized tests -  Most colleges require students to submit scores from standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT. 

Meet with a college counselor -  Meet with a college counselor at your high school to discuss your options and get advice on the college application process. 

Prepare a college application -  Prepare a strong college application that highlights your strengths and accomplishments. 

Apply for financial aid -  Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and apply for scholarships and grants. 

Visit colleges -  Take a campus tour or attend an information session to get a feel for different colleges and universities.
