Why Is Cuet 2023 Very Crucial For 12th Students?

An equal and fair opportunity for every student In the modern era students dream of getting admission to prestigious universities to pursue their desired courses. Out of the huge number of students, very few students are successful to study in their preferred colleges. Due to low marks obtained in class 12 boards, students do not get equal opportunities to choose their preferred university and degree course. They get frustrated due to giving high priority to the class 12 board exam marks.

Ministry of Education has recently started the CUCET entrance exam to motivate students. This type of entrance exam provides a fair chance for all the students to perform well in the exam and then get admission to the best universities. No weightage will be given to the 12th examination. The education ministry has decided to give 50% weightage to class 12 board exams and the rest to CUET results.

Subjective bias can be eliminated through the CUCET Examination  A candidate who has secured low marks in some of the subjects in class 12 like Physics and Chemistry but still wants to study Physics or Chemistry honors faces many difficulties getting admission to reputed universities. So far, the Class 12 marks served as the only criteria for admission. Students with low marks have been denied admission to certain degree courses.

The objective of the CUCET exam is to reduce subjective bias and safeguard the interest of the students. The CUCET entrance exam provides class 12 students a second chance to prove themselves by qualifying for the entrance exam. If the student has the desired ability then the student can give the exam and get good marks. This will help the students to pursue the higher degree courses of their choice even after scoring fewer marks in the board exams.

Clarity about the rank and status of the students The examinations conducted in previous years did not disclose the rank of the students. Major central universities like Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University did not publish the ranks of students as admission to undergraduate courses was done on the basis of class 12 board exam scores. Because of this, students were unaware of their rank, which led to much confusion and chaos.

To combat the problem of unequal opportunities due to poor marks the CUCET Entrance Exam has been introduced. The CUCET Entrance exam will help the Class 12 students acquire proper knowledge about their ranks and eligibility for a certain degree course.

The cut-off battle ends finally- The cut-off marks for admission in well-reputed universities are very high, resulting in students getting nervous. The marking system is different for CBSE students and ICSE students, resulting in their cut-offs being also different. Meeting the cut-off marks sometimes becomes difficult due to which their applications are rejected. However, in 2022 the cut-off criteria will be successfully replaced by the CUCET Exam score.

The merit list for admission is based on Class 12 board exam marks and CUCET scores. This provides an immense opportunity for the students to prove themselves even if they have not scored well in Class 12.

The uniform selection process to be adopted- Till the beginning of 2022, recognized universities had their own rules and criteria for admission to undergraduate courses. They did not follow any normal selection process.
