Phytoconstituents obtained from natural resources by expression, distillation and other operations are gaining high importance in life sciences for varied reasons. Since, ancient times herbal products are being used for alleviating the health problems. The advent of chemical and biological sciences as made it possible to extract, isolate, characterize and establish the usefulness of the exact constituents of a herbal product. The use of herbal remedies has increased many fold from 1990 onwards. Substantial efforts have been made in the recent years to identify new, natural remedies to combat as variety of disease states.
