Organic chemistry is one such subject in the Pharmacy curriculum which, if grasped and digested systematically and sincerely, not only prepares the student for just the exams, but expands his/her thinking horizons and abilities, effectively to inculcate unique sense of confidence in him/her to face practical challenges of future career. This subject lays a foundation for many other subjects like, medicinal chemistry, drug synthesis, drug design, biochemistry, phytochemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, as well as, gives better understanding of some other subjects of pharmacy, directly or indirectly. If approached in a sincere way, it can be a friendly subject to score or else can give nightmares during exams. It is often criticized and commented particularly, in the industry that pharmacy students are weak in this subject.
