I get immense pleasure in penning the preface of this edition of the book : Introduction to Manufacturing Technology in a slightly modified title, that is, 'Manufacturing Processes and Technology'. This new edition, I believe it will prove more useful to the students and teachers alike as it contains some more topics on manufacturing processes such as, Grinding and Powder Metallurgy. A chapter on heat treatment of steel, including structure of steel and iron-carbon diagram also have been added. Some useful information on Jigs and Fixtures have been given. It was felt that some material on Metrology essential, hence a chapter on this is included. Whereever necessary, some numerical examples have been worked out. In chapter one, some theory and practical applications of uncommon cutting tools (in India) but very productive such as, controlled contact tools and Kolesov tool are added so that the practising engineers can apply them at their workplace.
