The earlier editions of the book has been well appreciated by the readers all over the country with many fruitful suggestions and comments. Earlier editions laid more stress on the numerical methods and the use of computers in solving engineering problems by using FORTRAN- 77 language. The readers, however, wished that since FORTRAN is not popular now, hence C and C++ Programming which is being popularly used is included in this edition. Further to make both more compatible a chapter on AutoCAD 2002 is also being included in this edition. Some problems using Turbo-C have also been solved in the book.
It was felt that there is a need to include illustrative drawings by using Auto-CAD. This now has been done in the form of wire frame models, surface models and solid models.
