This book is an outcome of my experience of teaching this subject for last more than 30 years. I have not given any new idea or new theories in this book, but have made an attempt to write and compile the subject matter in a most systematic form as per todays need. This book is meant for students of degree, diploma as well as reference book for practising engineers, consultants, field staff contractors, architects etc.

This book covers almost all the latest engineering (building) materials used in construction of civil engineering works. Each material is dealt with all the details viz., physical, chemical, mechanical properties; constituents; composition; uses and applications; comparisoIl with other materials; their engineering aspects etc. Attempts have been made to simplify the subject matter which is accompanied by figures, tables and illustrating examples. A chapter on Quality Control has also been added as it is now being practiced more in all the projects.
