It gives me enormous pleasure to present the sixth edition of Nootan Chemistry for CBSE students of Class XI. The overwhelming response given to the earlier editions of the book by learned teachers and students is an asset to me and I am highly thankful to them for adopting the book and appreciating the subject matter contained in it.

The book has been thoroughly revised strictly according to the prescribed syllabus and guidelines issued by NCERT and the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi. Several topics have been rewritten to facilitate the students to grasp them easily. Every effort has been made to present the text in such a way so as to make the concepts easily understandable and to develop the interest of readers in the subject. Sufficient matter has been given to cater the need of those students who intend to go deeper down in to the subject or opt to prepare for competitive examinations. This matter has been marked by a bullet with the heading ‘Competition Edge’.
