Savitribai Phule Pune University introduced Choice Based Credit System from June 2019 and made restructuring of all the courses. It is a matter of great pleasure to the authors of this book entitled as Fundamentals of Banking I for the first year B. Com. Sem-I. This book is written as per the syllabus approved by the University authorities, keeping in mind the need, interest of teachers and students. It is written in simple and lucid language for understanding and developing the knowledge and interest of the students about the subject, Fundamentals of Banking.

This book comprises of four chapters. The Government of India, in recent years, gives more emphasis on cashless transactions, use of credit cards and electronic transactions.
